Regular

Noah, a talented writer for Out magazine, came to me only one year ago with no tattoos. I now see him almost once a month! Here are a few of our latest projects:

Paradise Lost

This concludes my month long stay in Costa Rica. I have never taken such a long trip before and am embarrassed to admit that I struggled at first with all the down time… we almost decided to come home early a few times! There’s a lesson in there somewhere, I just know it… Timothy Hoyer told me recently that freedom is one of the most important commodities there is. I think this trip has helped me realize that, and I hope to take a bit of this freedom back to NYC with me. I promise less sap and more tattoos in the following weeks. Pura Vida!!!

Django Reinhardt

We listened to a great mix of music by Django as we worked on the tattoo.

Welcome Marcus!

I had the opportunity to dine with my old pal Marcus Kuhn this week. He helped me out a bunch in my early years of tattooing. He’s a great teacher and source of inspiration and I’m happy to have him as a friend. The great part of this love fest is that you can be a part of it!… In addition to his Portland Maine shop, Marcus is now tattooing out of a private studio in Brooklyn, NY called Red Star Irons. See his work here, and contact him through his website or at justgoodtattoos@yahoo.com.

Although I’m a huge book nerd, I’m allergic to reading blogs without pictures on them, so here’s a photo of a tattoo I did this week:

NY state of mind

Marcus came all the way from Sweden and sat for two days in a row for this NYC tribute tattoo.
